The read through and auditions will take place on Sunday 17th January from 7.30 pm in Brook Hall.

Rehearsals will start the following week. Rehearsal venues will be announced at the read through. Tuesdays are looking difficult in terms of venue hire so we may need to rethink the midweek night, possibly moving to a Wednesday, taking into account commitments to other shows.

If you can’t make the read through / auditions please contact Matthew Horton as it is likely that you can still be cast or be in the chorus.

Hannah Rose will be directing Blue Remembered Hills, Dennis Potter’s evocative, childhood drama, as our adult entry for Woking and Spelthorne drama festivals later this year.

A read-through will take place at The Castle pub, Brox Road, Ottershaw, on Weds 17th June from 8.00pm.
Auditions will follow at Brook Hall, Ottershaw, on Tues 23rd June, also at 8.00pm.

If you are unable to make the audition date and you wish to take part, please contact Hannah.

Synopsis:
Originally written for TV, Dennis Potter’s deceptively simple tale relates the activities of seven West-Country seven-year-olds on a summer afternoon during the Second World War, in a wood, a field and a barn. The children (all played by adult actors) play, fight, fantasize and swagger, their aggressions, fears, hostilities and rivalries a microcosm of adult interaction. Easy-going Willie tags along as burly Peter bullies gentle Raymond and is challenged by fair-minded John. Plain Audrey is overshadowed by Angela’s prettiness and wreaks her angry frustrations on the boys. All of them gang up on the terrified “Donald Duck” who, abused by his mother and ridiculed by his peers, plays his own dangerous game of pyromania which ends in tragedy.

The 51st Woking Drama Festival takes place 6th to 17th October 2009. The Spelthorne Festival is the week after.

Caught on the Hop is a one act play for grown ups! Directed by Lisel Slark, it will be produced at the same time as Sparkleshark (17th-18th July). Caught on the Hop is a French farce with five parts for men and women. Returning home unexpectedly early from a rendezvous with her lover, Sophie Fontaineau finds that her husband Etienne is absent and immediately suspects the worst. She accidentally spills brandy on the trousers of her porter who of course finds himself trouserless, behind a screen…

Much hilarity and silliness until the final twist of this light hearted tale. The read-through will be held on 22nd April at Chobham Scout Hall starting at 7.30pm. Auditions to follow the next week 29th April, same time, same place!

A read-through of the play will be held on Monday 5th January, from 7.30pm, at New Haw Community Centre. Drinks and nibbles will be provided! So come along for a post-Christmas social.

This will be followed by auditions on Monday 12th January and Thursday 15th January, also at 7.30pm at New Haw CC.

I know that it seems very early, but we’re keen to get the auditions out of the way before Farrago rehearsals start, so that we can get straight into Razzle rehearsals when the Farrago has finished.

An pack with full details of the play, including the pieces we will be using at the audition, can be downloaded from the following link: On The Razzle – Audition Park.

This year’s entry for the 50th Woking Drama Festival will be All In The Timing by David Ives. This is a book of 12 short plays, of which we will be performing just three, making a 30 to 40 minute piece.

The plays – English Made Simple, The Universal Language and Sure Thing - deal with language and communication and especially how this affects the ways that people meet and fall in love. The plays are quite theatrical—real “festival material”—yet also very funny, as those of us who gathered for the read-through at The Castle discovered.

Auditions were held on 13th July and the play has now been cast. Congratulations to Graham Collier, Bill Jackson, Julia Stevens and Amanda Keating who have risen to the challenge. A breakdown of their parts is on the All In The Timing page.
