As in previous years, Ottershaw Players will have a stall at the May Fair, on Mon 4th May, advertising our activities and upcoming productions. Any volunteers to man the stand should contact Danny.

Razzle Cast

After a very successful read-through, the auditions for On The Razzle were trickier than anticipated as we didn’t have as many men turn out as we had hoped. But after some scouting, head-scratching and further readings, we’ve pulled together a cast, shown here.

Many thanks to everyone who auditioned, especially to the ladies who we were unable to cast. You were all great and made our decisions very difficult!

The play starts rehearsals in March and will be on at the Rhoda McGaw theatre in Woking from 27th to 30th May. Tickets are £10 and £8 from the box office on 01932 702091.

One-Act Play Night

The youth production, Sparkleshark, has now been cast (details here). Due to time constraints the production dates have been moved and it will now be shown on 17th and 18th July at Brook Hall.

The evening will be a double-bill of one-act plays. Alongside Sparkleshark we will see Caught On The Hop, a farce written in 1993, for 3 women and 2 men. The play will be directed by Lisel Slark in her first production for the Players. Readings and auditions will take place in April, so keep your eyes peeled for more information!

Beer and Carols

Last night saw the Players’ Christmas Party at The Sovereigns in Woking. There was a good turnout of people, there to enjoy the great buffet, provided by Ian the Landlord, and to sing carols for the pub’s charity, CRY, this year.

Everyone seemed to have a fun evening so, if it’s what everyone wants, we will discuss whether we do the same thing again next year. Well done to Matthew for organising the evening, sorting out the carols and conducting the choir.

Christmas Party (and Carols!)

The landlord of The Sovereigns pub in Woking has asked Ottershaw Players to perform a short carol concert, in aid of charity, in the run-up to Christmas. In return, he is willing to provide some food and drink and a room for a Christmas party. Your committee thought that this would make a more cheery and festive venue than the usual chilly Brook Hall!

The event will be held on Weds 19th December from 7pm (until closing time!). If you want to attend, please contact Matthew Horton (07942 483451) so he can get an idea of numbers, for catering purposes.

We will also have a brief ‘warm-up’ as a chance to practice on Sunday 16th December at about 8pm (after the Treasure Island post-production meeting) at Brook Hall. Attendance at the practice is not compulsory, but it would be an advantage if we all know the words and tunes!

Chairman’s Garden Party 2007

This year’s Chairman’s Do will be held on Sunday 29th July at Danny’s house from 12 noon.

Food and punch will, undoubtedly, be laid on, as in previous years. Fingers crossed for good weather! All members and their families are welcome.
