2008 Chairman’s Garden Party

This year’s annual Chairman’s Garden Party will be held on Sunday 17th August, at Danny Sparkes’ house from 11am.

Food and drink will be provided, as usual, so all you have to do is cross your fingers that the weather will be as good as it was last year! We can but hope.

Bring along the family to enjoy the weather!

Festival Play Reading

The choice of play for the Woking Drama Festival will be unveiled and we will have a read-through on Sun 22nd June, 8.00pm, at the Castle pub in Ottershaw. Auditions will follow later in the summer. Do come along to read, to listen and to have a drink with your friends.

Murder Mystery Reading

The Players are hoping to put on a murder mystery at Brook Hall or 2 nights (Fri/Sat) in early May, along with a performance at Ottershaw Social Club (date TBA).All members are cordially invited to a readthrough of two possible scripts to guage interest. Meet at Danny Sparkes’ house. 8pm, Tuesday 25th March.

Going to the Dogs

We’ve decided to organize a social event for all members and their partners or spouses.

An evening greyhound racing at Wimbledon on Tues 1st April, with a meal included and a friendly lady who comes round to take your bets (and pay out your winnings!).

The price will be in the region of £25-£30, depending upon the number of people who are interested and whether we hire transportation.

A few people have been before and say it’s a really great fun night out.

Beer and Carols

Last night saw the Players’ Christmas Party at The Sovereigns in Woking. There was a good turnout of people, there to enjoy the great buffet, provided by Ian the Landlord, and to sing carols for the pub’s charity, CRY, this year.

Everyone seemed to have a fun evening so, if it’s what everyone wants, we will discuss whether we do the same thing again next year. Well done to Matthew for organising the evening, sorting out the carols and conducting the choir.
