Spelthorne Drama Festival Results

Congratulations to both entries at The Spelthorne and Runnymede Drama Festival last week.

Both the youth play “The Queen Must Die” and adult play “Made Glorious Summer” received good, positive adjudications and can be proud of their performances. Ottershaw Players received several nominations also came away with 3 trophies!

Huge congratulations to Graham Collier for writing and directing “Made Glorious Summer” and for winning “Best New Play”. They also won “The Backstage Award” and Mark Holton won “Best Actor” for his role as Eathan Hawley.

There were also nominations for the play in stage presentation and technical merit and Julia Stevens was nominated for Best Supporting Player.

The Queen Must Die also received a nomination for stage presentation and there were nominations for the Best Youth Player for Merlyn White-Aldworth, Ben Rollinson, Matilda Street and Georgina Jaggs.

Well done to everyone involved.

Well done to both of our entries in The Woking Drama Festival that has been running over the last 2 weeks. Sadly we didn’t win any silverware this year, but Ottershaw Players did receive several nominations:

The Jane Walters Youth Award – The Queen Must Die (OP youth group)

The Huntley Cup (Adjudicators Award) – Devon White-Aldworth as Mad Mike in The Queen Must Die (for his devastating axe work)

The Desmon Holt Memorial Cup (Best Junior Player – Georgina Jags as Lisa in The Queen Must Die

The Iain Home Rose Bowl (Best Actor) – Mark Holton as Eathan Hawley in Made Glorious Summer

PLEASE NOTE: There has been a change of venue for the auditions for Wyrd Sisters on Tuesday Septemeber 20th.

They will now be held at The Castle Pub, Ottershaw from 7.30pm

Christmas Production News

Our Christmas production this year will be

Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett – Directed by Matthew Horton

To be performed the week of December the 5th 2011 at the Rhoda McGaw theatre in Woking.

A read through of the play will be held on Tuesday 13th September at The Castle at 7.30pm.

Details about Auditions will be available at the Read Through and will be emailed to members at a later date.. Let your friends know.

This play is quite different from plays that we have done in the past few years and has a bit more of a pantoesque feel about it. There are some very strong and very funny female characters and lots of opportunities for principles and smaller parts.

The Ottershaw Players AGM will be held at Brook Hall on Sunday 4th September 2011 commencing at 7pm.

Nominations for new committee members should be forwarded to Brenda Midwinter (b.midwinter123@btinternet.com) by 29th August 2011. Items for discussion can be brought up under “Any Other Business” but prior notification would be appreciated.

If you require an Agenda and copy of last year’s minutes, please also contact Brenda.

Adult Festival Auditions

AUDITIONS FOR ‘MADE GLORIOUS SUMMER’

Graham Collier thanks everyone who came to the read-through last night of Made Glorious Summer, or communicated with him about the play.

The auditions will be held at Brook Hall on Sunday 3^rd July at 7pm

and Chobham Social Club Tuesday 5^th July at 7.30pm.

Please contact Graham directly on grahamdavidcollier@hotmail.com if you want a PDF of the script in advance.

Made Glorious Summer will be entered for the Woking Drama Festival during the first two weeks of October, and the Spelthorne Drama Festival, the third week of October, so please only audition if you’re clear to rehearse and perform. Please note the person cast as Ethan will be required to attend all rehearsals whereas the other characters will be scheduled for when required.

Graham looks forward to seeing you this Sunday and/or next Tuesday.

If you haven’t yet got your tickets for Rumours, please book asap to avoid disappointment.

The opening night was a huge success, but tickets are selling fast.

There are very limited numbers left for Friday and Saturday, with a few more available on Thursday.

Please don’t forget to get your tickets for Rumours, which is on at Brook Hall next week, from Wed June 1st to Sat June 4th at 7.45pm

Everyone is working hard and it is set to be a great production for The Players.

Tickets are £10 each and include a complimentary drink at the interval (glass of wine or soft drink). Please come along and support, a portion of any money made from the production will be donated to the Brook Hall improvement fund, so that Phase 2 of the work can get under way.
